 Favorite Christmas traditions

With Halloween over and us being in the month of November, that can only mean one thing: it's Christmas time! Even though the holiday season doesn't officially start until Thanksgiving, I feel like the transition from October to November is the perfect time for Christmas decorations to begin coming out. One of my favorite traditions is definitely driving around neighborhoods and seeing all the houses lit up with these Christmas lights and decorations. It's so cool to see how each house can be decorated differently, but still feel so festive. I really like seeing the houses that "go all out" and have every inch of their yard covered in lights and moving reindeers.

Another one of my favorite things about Christmas is finding the perfect tree and then decorating it. I remember making new ornaments every year in art class when I was younger, so it's always humbling pulling out the ornament box again every year. I like how the collection has the same pieces, but you're always able to add new ones. My favorite part is seeing the final product and plugging in the lights to make the tree all lit up. It feels like I've finished a masterpiece even though the tree basically looks the same every year!

Lastly, I've now really enjoyed decorating gingerbread houses with my friends. I'm not the most creative person, so it's really interesting seeing how other people can make something look so nice with the same ingredients. I remember hating gingerbread houses when I was younger because everything would be stale by the time I was done decorating, but now I just really like the aesthetic. As always, a Christmas movie marathon is a must every year and Elf and Home Alone are my favorites!

  1. Hi Lisa, great post. I also love the warm winter feeling of going around to see all the Christmas decorations and putting my own family's decorations up. There's something about this tradition that makes me feel so happy inside, as it's something I look forward to every year.

  3. Hi Lisa, awesome post. As we inch closer towards Christmas, I feel like it doesn’t hit me until the only songs I hear are Christmas songs and the only commercials I see are ones about the holidays. My family has never been one to put up decorations, but seeing all the effort people put in to their decorations is definitely one of my favorite parts of the holidays.

  4. Hi Lisa, reading your post just got me so excited for the holidays! I can't wait to go home, decorate the tree with my family, and be surrounded by snow. My dad is one of those people who would go all out with the lights and would be so proud of it every year. Really looking forward to it this year.

  5. Hi Lisa! Definitely share in your excitement for the holidays. Although, I really enjoy November as the last month of fall - my family would decorate the day after Thanksgiving. Either way, your post definitely got me in the holiday spirit.

  6. Hi Lisa, lovely post! Seeing different houses decorate their own creative ways is one of my favorite things in the holiday season too. Since there's only high rise apartments in Seoul where I'm from, it's not common to see decorations other than some simple Christmas lights in their balconies!
